Designed to support live events professionals, artists and crew to measure, understand and record their event-related travel impacts, the updated onboard:earth Travel Carbon Calculator update is now available. Download the new app on google play or through the apple store.
onboard:earth developed the app in partnership with Digitwell Solutions in response the many freelance crew members and touring artists who got in touch wanting to do something about the impact of their travel to events.
The app is free to download and allows users to:
- Measure travel journeys: If you know the numbers of miles, postcodes and your vehicle type you can work out the carbon emissions associated with your journey.
- Log your travel: Use the app as way to store your travel and download in a .csv file if you need it offline. You can reference it by client, tour or job, which means you can track your travel and share with clients if need be too.
- Model low carbon travel routes: because you can find out the travel impacts of different routes you can use the app to help decide which journey will be the lowest carbon option.
- Fund environmental restoration: As a last step, the app gives you the option to fund environmental restoration projects through onboard.earth’s two programmes:
- Trees+; which funds ecosystem regeneration, tree planting and the protection of threatened rainforest and provides a verified carbon offset
- Energy Revolution; which invests in community led, community benefit renewable energy projects which aim to empower neighbourhoods with low-cost clean energy and with education and training around the transition to a fossil-free economy.
New to this app version: we have added the option to fund environmental restoration in regular payments with a subscriptions feature. This means that, if you have a regular journey you can set up a payment to address this impact through your chosen restoration project.
