onboard:earth started life in 2015 as ‘Energy Revolution,’ a festival industry response to the COP21 climate change talks and research showing that travel typically causes 80% of a festival’s carbon emissions.*

To date our members have raised over £650,000 for environmental restoration projects, funds which have been used to plant over 65,800 trees, protect over 21,700 acres of threatened rainforest and invest in 14 community-led, community-benefit renewable energy generation projects.

In 2020, the charity became ecolibrium as it encompassed a broader range of environmental projects: adding the Trees+ programme to raise funds for ecosystem restoration, protection and regeneration alongside the original Energy Revolution programme which invests in community-led, community benefit, renewable energy.

Our evolution to onboard:earth in 2024 better represents our mission to move low-carbon travel into the heart of live events culture and our vision to unite events in environmental restoration; with an emphasis on supporting projects that address ecosystem protection and regeneration in a holistic way. We are onboard:earth

> On a mission to tackle travel impacts at live events
> Funding environmental restoration
> On behalf of future generations

“The point of this industry-founded charity is to take the journey together; to collaborate across the sector, share insights on how to collect data easily, understand it, and make changes that work to reduce emissions – together we have built something significant.

Chris Johnson, CEO of onboard:earth
