Demonstrate your Commitment to Nature in 2027

Are you a busy event organiser or event producer looking to demonstrate your commitment to the environment? Do you lack the time and capacity to measure your audience travel footprint?

Or struggle to know what is the most impactful way to fund nature restoration and which scheme you can trust to actually deliver on?

We understand.  After 10 years of working with busy festival organisers and event staff who juggle sustainability as one of their many hats we know that you want to:

  • Demonstrate that you care for people and planet
  • Acknowledge the impact your event has
  • Be able to talk about your actions
  • Know that any scheme you support will have a verifiable impact
  • Make it relatable to your audience

However, due to the demands of your role and the challenges of gathering audience travel data and analysing it, you don’t necessarily have the data or means for carbon offsetting.

We created Canopy & Coast just for you.

(If you are already a Trees+ contributor, this scheme continues, providing a verified offset for your travel carbon footprint. See the table below for a comparison of Trees+ and Canopy & Coast)

Introducing Canopy and Coast for UK events

Canopy & Coast is our new scheme for events who want to demonstrate their commitment to nature, acknowledge the impact of audience travel and share great stories with their community without offsetting. It supports nature protection and habitat restoration in the UK and around the world

Every £20 donated, will fund:

  • 1 acre of threatened rainforest protected – preserving vital habitat for endangered wildlife and protecting biodiversity in perpetuity.
  • 1 tree planted in the UK in a community project – this can be directed to a project local to your event
  • 3 trees planted by communities living on the frontlines of climate breakdown – these trees not only restore degraded landscapes, they also provide long term livelihood options for women and communities.
  • 5 seagrass plugs planted – to restore the marine ecosystem on the UK coastline
  • onboard:earth supported to enable live events to tackle their travel emissions and create a collective legacy.

How to include Canopy and Coast in your 2027 ticket sales

We recommend adding a mandatory climate levy to all ticket sales or car passes and clearly communicating this to your audience. This brings your audience together and demonstrates your shared values – that protecting our amazing planet is not optional. It also ensures a robust amount of donations will be collected, making a bigger impact for nature and better stories to share with your community.

These are the suggested figures for a mandatory climate levy depending on the scale or size of your event. We already have winter wonderland events adding 25p and larger music festivals adding £2 – £5 to every ticket.

What’s the difference between Trees+ and Canopy & Coast?

Trees+ remains our signature carbon offsetting programme which includes a verified carbon offset through a high integrity, community-led project. Canopy & Coast offers nature based solutions to acknowledge the damage done to the planet by travel to events, but does not offer a verified offset.

Environmental restoration projects you can trust

At onboard:earth, we know carbon offsetting and tree‑planting schemes have had their fair share of bad press, and it can feel risky to donate — especially when you’ve collected funds from your audience or customers in good faith.

That’s exactly why we carry out a rigorous due‑diligence process. It ensures your carbon offset or climate levy contributions go only to verified, reputable projects that genuinely deliver for people and the planet.

  • We are a UK registered charity with exceptional governance standards
  • A strong, clear and transparent methodology and rationale for everything we do
  • In-depth due diligence in place for all partners through our Investment Committee with advice from external sustainability and carbon market consultants and climate investment experts, available to clients.
  • All projects will be required to report on the activity/ impact of donations which we share with our members to help celebrate and amplify positive action.
