Carbon Kind: Climate Projects That Build Resilient Communities

Carbon Kind works in partnership with the charity Deki and rural communities in Togo, West Africa, to transform climate challenges into local opportunities. Together, their mission is to ensure that those least responsible for climate change — but most affected by it — are empowered as key drivers of climate action.

Donations to onboard:earth’s Trees+ programme fund their clean cookstove project, which replaces traditional open fires with fuel-efficient stoves. These stoves reduce wood use by over 52%, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and helping to prevent deforestation.

The environmental benefits of clean cookstoves are matched by social impact: reduced indoor air pollution improves the health of women and children, while less time spent collecting firewood frees up hours each day for education, farming, and income-generating activities.

In 2023, Carbon Kind established a local cookstove workshop in rural Togo — not just a production facility, but a centre for empowerment. Local teams are trained to manufacture and distribute stoves using community networks, ensuring that the environmental, economic, and social benefits remain rooted in the communities they serve.

In addition to reducing emissions, each carbon credit purchase supports eight verified UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — including gender equality, improved health, and climate action. The carbon reductions have been verified under Verra VCS. All eight SDGs have been independently verified through SDVista, with ongoing monitoring to ensure transparency and lasting impact.
