Trees+ is our verified carbon offsetting option for organisations who have calculated the carbon footprint of their project, event or event-related travel. Your donations will fund ecosystem restoration and a verified carbon offset through a high integrity, community-led project.* This option helps support your Net Zero commitments, and we have tools to help event organisers to understand travel-related carbon impacts if needed.

If you are not looking for a verified carbon offset and want to focus your funds on nature restoration that includes UK tree planting then consider our Canopy & Coast Program (see below for a comparison of the two programs).

Monitoring and measuring your carbon emissions 

If you have measured your event-related carbon emissions, Trees+ enables you to offset your carbon footprint. onboard:earth can help your event to measure its carbon footprint using our free tools. Events then make a voluntary donation to acknowledge these emissions and support environmental restoration.

If you are not measuring your emissions yet but would like to, here are some options:

• onboard:earth’s travel carbon calculator, app and travel log tool help you measure audience, supplier and artist travel.
• Use a verified third-party carbon measuring tool and include other event-related carbon impacts i.e., waste or energy carbon emissions.

Funding Environmental Restoration with Trees+

• 1 tCO2e offset through a community-led nature-based project, verified by Carbon Standard, VERRA, REDD+ or Gold Standard.*
• 1 acre of threatened rainforest protected – preserving vital habitat for endangered wildlife and protecting biodiversity in perpetuity
• 3 trees planted by communities living on the frontlines of climate breakdown – these trees not only restore degraded landscapes, they also provide long term livelihood options for women and communities 
• 5 seagrass plugs planted – to restore the marine ecosystem on the UK coastline
• Enabling onboard:earth to support live events to tackle their travel emissions and unite in the industry in environmental restoration.

• In-depth due diligence in place for all partners through our Investment Committee with advice from external sustainability and carbon market consultants and climate investment experts, available to clients.

Q. What is the difference between Trees+ and Canopy & Coast? 

A. Trees+ is our verified carbon offsetting option for organisations who have calculated their carbon footprint and can share their workings with us – we have lots of tools we can share with you.

Canopy and Coast is for those who don’t yet have the capacity to calculate the carbon footprint of their event or audience travel but want to acknowledge the impact that their event has and demonstrate their commitment to the environment.

Q. Can you do Trees+ and Canopy & Coast together?

Yes. Trees+ is for those events who are looking to offset their unavoidable carbon footprint that they have gathered data from non-audience travel data to waste and energy impacts. 

A. Canopy and Coasts is ideal as an audience facing initiative that is included at the ticket purchase phase

Q. Do we have to do a mandatory climate levy to use these initiatives 

A. We recommend Canopy & Coast as a mandatory climate levy that can be added to a ticket or a car/vehicle pass. 

A mandatory levy brings your audience together, generates a robust amount of donations that have an impact on protecting nature, and demonstrates your values that protecting the planet is not optional.
